Canadiens sign defenceman Philip Samuelsson for one year

After losing guys like Morgan Ellis, Mac Bennett, and Darren Dietz, the Canadiens needed to pick up some extra defencemen for the farm. The Saint John's IceCaps were looking at a pretty dire situation for their back end, but now the Canadiens have added Philip Samuelsson to the corps.

I don't know much about this newest acquisition, but I do know that the numbers he has put up in the AHL are quite good. As for his chances of cracking the Habs lineup, I would argue that they are not very good, but he'll probably get a shot in camp anyways.

It is a two-way deal, so there aren't many expectations being piled on here. He should be down with the IceCaps helping them since they lost basically their entire top-four in recent days.
