The Montreal Canadiens have signed backup goaltender Al Montoya

If no other move takes place, Montoya will battle with Mike Condon and Charlie Lindgren for the role of Carey Price's backup in training camp.

After seeing all the big-name free agents go to other teams, despite the negotiations being close with a few players, Marc Bergevin signed backup goaltender Al Montoya to a contract.

The Canadiens currently have several goalies vying for the job of Carey Price's number two, so you can probably expect at least one of Mike Condon, Charlie Lindgren, and Zachary Fucale to be moved to another team before th start of the season.

Montoya spent the 2015-16 backing up Roberto Luongo with the Florida Panthers, but the five-year deal signed by James Reimer with the Panthers made Montoya expendable. He will bring his skills to the Montreal Canadiens, and you'd have to believe that he'll be the front-runner to be the one to sit on the Habs bench this season.
