Montreal Canadiens News and Notes

  • Having made his NHL debut with the Canadiens this past season, Charles Hudon was happy to be able to share the experience with his family. [TVA Sports]
  • According to reports, the Habs have signed prospect Artturi Lehkonen to an entry-level contract. The pact will allow him to return to the Swedish Hockey League should he not crack the Canadiens lineup. [EOTP]
  • The Canadiens may only have a short window of opportunity with their current core roster, and to get anywhere with it they must keep P.K. Subban to lure childhood friend Steven Stamkos. [Montreal Gazette]
  • He'll have to pull himself away from his meetings with other celebrities to make that phone call, however:

Around the League and Elsewhere

  • The Dallas Stars were willing to give Swedish forward Mattias Janmark a chance at making the big club this season, and it has certainly paid off. [THN]
  • Swiss netminder Reto Berra was on the wrong side of an embarrassing moment at the World Championships yesterday, allowing a goal from the opposing blue line in a game against Kazakhstan. [Puck Daddy]
  • It would be hard to blame rookie Jean-Francois Berube if he was nervous, having to enter Game Four between the Islanders and Lightning with no warm-up after Thomas Greiss lost a skate blade. [Eye on Hockey]
  • The style of play in the playoffs is often very different from what we see during the regular season, especially where offence is concerned. This year, the post-season doesn't seem to be such a different animal after all. [Sportsnet]
