Canadiens vs. Hurricanes second period thread

Darren Dietz tied it late in the first period. It's 1-1 heading into the second.

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

The start of Charlie Lindgren's NHL career probably did not go as planned, with the Canes beating him on the first shot in the NHL on a play set up by Jeff Skinner who found Riley Nash for the game's opening goal.

Aside from letting a goal in on the first shot, Charline Lindgren looked good in the net. He played aggressive, and showed good positional sense, coming out to challenge shooters and putting rebounds out of danger areas when there had to be rebounds.

It looked as though the Habs would be trailing 1-0 heading into the second, but Darren Dietz unloaded a slapshot as he inched in from the point and had time to wind up and pick his spot for his first career NHL goal.

It's 1-1 heading into the second period.
