Canadiens vs. Panthers second period thread

The Habs lead 1-0 heading into the second period.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Brendant Gallagher wasted no time getting implicated in the game, with his line creating a chance within the first minute of the game that led to a Canadiens powerplay. The Canadiens' man advantage was fruitless, with the Canadiens unable to generate a shot on net, and having only two attempts on net within the first four minutes of the game.

With just over ten minutes played, Brendan Gallagher hammered a bouncing puck past Roberto Luongo to give the Habs a 1-0 lead with Joel Hanley drawing his sixth assist in seven games since being called up from St. John's.

The first line almost put the Habs up 2-0 with under two minutes left in the first period, with Brendan Gallagher taking a a pass at the blueline as Max Pacioretty tagged up (but was an inch too slow), putting a shot on net that was tipped by Andrei Markov who had the goal called back after a coaching challenge from the Panthers.
