Montreal Canadiens lines and practice news

Here is how the Canadiens lined up at practice today

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

It doesn't appear that Lars Eller is ready to play in the immediate future. The forward, after missing yesterday's game against Dallas, skated in a non-contact jersey at practice today. P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov did not participate in the session.

Here is how the team lined up at practice.

As you could see, without Eller, Brendan Gallagher and David Desharnais, the second line depth has taken a big hit but it is an opportunity for Stefan Matteau. It also gives Lucas Lessio a chance make a spot for himself in the Habs lineup.

With news that Gallagher is out two to three weeks, there has yet to be a forward recalled from St. John's of the American Hockey League, so the Canadiens have 12 healthy forwards plus Eller, who is likely day-to-day.

The Habs next game is tomorrow against the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre.
