Canadiens vs. Ducks second period thread

It's 1-1 heading into the second period.

The Habs looked very organized and played with a lot of pace to begin the game. This is all relative of course. Compared to their lacklustre starts in recent games, the Habs started this one off nicely.

The Habs earned a powerplay from their aggressive start, but did not convert.

Tomas Plekanec tied Guy Carbonneau for 18th all-time in points in franchise history with the opening goal of the game as he took a shot from the wing that was tipped by Torrey Mitchell as he drove through the slot. (The NHL has credited Tomas Plekanec with the goal at this point, but it looked like Torrey Mitchell got a piece of the puck as he went to the net.)

Michael McCarron dropped the gloves with Josh Manson in defense of his own honour after laying a big hit on Hampus Lindholm.

The Ducks drew even almost six minutes after the Habs opened the scoring, with Jakob Silfverberg putting a shot past Mike Condon that he probably should have stopped.

Lo and behold, it's 1-1 heading into the second period.
