The Canadiens haven't seen too many of their players get named to World Cup squads so far today, but with the United States set to reveal their preliminary 16 last, Max Pacioretty was up. Sure enough, he was named to their 16-man preliminary roster.
Being that he is a returning member from the Sochi Olympic team, it makes sense that USA hockey would want to have him around for the World Cup. He's not having the best offensive year of his career, but he is still a highly dangerous offensive player that can put the puck in the net for his country.
Probably the only shocker on this roster is the addition of Justin Abdelkader. I personally think that the United States have better options, but they elected to lock him in anyways. Again, there is still time before they will reveal the rest of their 23 man roster for the tournament.
