Canadiens vs. Wild second period thread

The Habs trail 2-1 heading into the second period.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sports

The first four minutes of the game were shotless, with the Habs only putting up one shot attempt to the Wild's five. The Wild broke the ice with the first shot of the game 4:26 in, an easy shot that Mike Condon absorbed to freeze the play.

The Habs were starting to build up an attack, after generating their second shot attempt seven minutes into the first period. The Wild were dominating in possession, up 12-7 in shot attempts before their thirteenth found the back of the net on a bad turnover by Mike Condon who came out of his net to the hashmarks to distribute the puck and missed his target, instead feeding the puck right to Nino Niederreiter who put it past Condon to put the Wild up 1-0.

The Habs drew even moments later, off a rebound created by Sven Andrighetto that Mark Barberio buried for his second goal and eighth point of the season. Barbs recorded his fourth point in his past three games and one period on the goal.

The Wild took the lead back just over one minute later with Mikael Granlund sliding home his ninth of the season from the side of the net past a sprawling Mike Condon.

Nate Prosser took an elbowing penalty with six minutes left in the first period that didn't result in very much for the Habs.

Andrei Markov's ice time in the first period was over eight minutes , making it likely for him to play over 25 minutes assuming his minutes are not reduced later in the game.
