Stephane Richer pleads with the Canadiens to trust Alex Galchenyuk

Alex Galchenyuk is on fire lately, and the whole hockey world is beginning to take notice.

We at Eyes on the Prize have been beating the Alex Galchenyuk drum for some time. While the Canadiens organization has seemed rather reluctant to actually trust him for some time, now that he's beginning to get more ice time and playing at centre, he is blowing up.

And folks around the hockey world are beginning to take notice. Check out what former Canadiens forward Stephane Richer had to say about Galchenyuk on TSN690 today.

This echoes the sentiment that has been widely present among Habs fans for some time. It has always been clear that Galchenyuk had the skill to be a star, but his usage would often handcuff him in his ability to actually break out. Now that he's getting top line considerations, he looks unstoppable.

He looks like the player that everyone was hoping to see when he was drafted third overall. In hindsight, he looks like he should have been a no-brainer for the first overall pick. It is unfortunate that, as Richer mentioned, it took the team being riddled with injuries to get a real chance to see this.

In any case, now that the world has seen what Alex Galchenyuk can do, it is going to be pretty hard for the Canadiens to ignore in the future.
