As was first reported as a possibility this morning, Devante Smith-Pelly is on the move. The forward was traded to the New Jersey Devils, with Stefan Matteau coming the other way.

There was writing on the wall when the Canadiens claimed Mike Brown at noon off of waivers. Brown was with the Sharks and his being in San Jose, where the Habs play tonight, was a sign.
Both Smith-Pelly and the player he was originally acquired by the Habs for, Jiri Sekac, have been moved this season. Smith-Pelly has six goals and six assists in 46 games and scored a goal in his last game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Stefan Matteau is a 22-year-old left winger, who has just one point (a goal) in 20 NHL games this season.
