John Scott named NHL's 1st star of the week

The fairytale continues for John Scott

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

This is probably among the best weeks in John Scott's life. After a fantastic All-Star weekend in Nashville where his team won the tournament and he was named MVP, Scott was also named the NHL's first star of the week for his performance in yesterday's game.

Scott, who was traded to the Montreal Canadiens several weeks ago is still with the St. John's IceCaps and is surely the only person to be named the NHL's player of the week without playing with an NHL team.

The fact that the league has embraced this after all the drama shows a pretty good sense of understanding what this meant to hockey fans.

For as much as you can criticize the league's handling of L'affaire Scott, you have to embrace how they reacted with the MVP vote and with this as well.
