About an hour before the game between the Montreal Canadiens and San Jose Sharks, the Habs announced that Andrew Shaw would not be participating because of concussion symptoms that emerged the previous day.

He will also not be traveling with the team when they visit the Washington Capitals tomorrow night.

Shaw took an open-ice hit from Torey Krug in Monday’s game versus the Boston Bruins and left to undergo the concussion protocol. He apparently passed the test, as he returned to the game after being evaluated over the first intermission.

It turns out he had suffered a brain injury on the play, and the symptoms appear to have shown up a few days after the fact.

It’s not known at this time how long he will be out.
