The Habs look to build off their win against Carolina.

NHL: Detroit Red Wings at Montreal Canadiens Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Montreal heads to the Joe tonight, hoping to put on the kind of show they did in their last go-’round against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Red Wings come into tonight’s game - the second of a back-to-back - with a 10-1-1 record. The Wings beat the New Jersey Devils in OT Friday night for their second straight win.

Detroit will be without the services of Jimmy Howard, who left Friday’s game with an apparent groin injury after allowing one goal on three shots. Backup Petr Mrazek has posted a 3.18 GAA and .897 save percentage on the season so far, including the three goals he allowed on 16 shots in last night’s tilt.

Carey Price will get the start for the Canadiens, but the Habs will have to make do without injured skaters Nathan Beaulieu, Charles Hudon, and Brian Flynn, none of whom traveled with the team. Artturi Lehkonen is with the team, however, and looks ready to step back into the lineup.

After tonight, the Habs head to the West Coast, which has not been their best coast by any stretch of the imagination. They’ll hope to get their trip started off in the right way tonight.
