Is 187 days enough time to get over what happened last season?

It really seems like it.

The Habs are poised to make memories of last season a distant mirage, beginning their 2016-17 campaign with two road games before their home opener next Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The first of two games on the road, tonight in Buffalo, will see the Habs take on a heavily injured Sabres team. While the Habs will be missing Carey Price for the season opener while he recovers from the flu, the Sabres are without two of their top forwards, Jack Eichel (ankle) and Kyle Okpso (knee).

Habs fans will be excited to see Shea Weber debut in his first regular season game with the Habs. He’ll suit up alongside Nathan Beaulieu, which is also exciting, given Beaulieu tallied eight points in five preseason games and looks ready to take on a bigger role with the Habs this year.

Mikhail Sergachev and Artturi Lehkonen make their NHL debuts tonight. Al Montoya gets his first start with the Canadiens with Carey Price out of action. There are five players in total making their debuts with the Canadiens tonight, including the three just mentioned as well as Alex Radulov and Andrew Shaw.

The puck drops at 7:00 PM EST.
