Nathan Beaulieu did not return to the start the second period, leaving the Canadiens with five defensemen for the rest of the game.

Despite this added adversity, the Canadiens kept pace with the Bruins and eventually scored with Mark Barberio hammering home his first goal as a Hab on one-time pass from P.K. Subban to tie the game 1-1. P.K. Subban picked up his 200th career assist on the play.

The Habs had a chance to go ahead on the powerplay at the 11:29 mark with Patrice Bergeron assessed just his 13th minor penalty of the year for hooking David Desharnais. The Habs only had two shot attempts on the subsequent powerplay and zero shots on net.

The Habs would end up giving the lead back to the Bruins on a giveway by Mike Condon who tried to clear the puck around the boards along the ice, which allowed the Bruins to recover, put a shot towards the net, and score on the eventual rebound as Condon scrambled into position after being interfered with by Alexei Emelin.

The Habs are 3-15-0 when trailing after two periods.
