2016 World Cup: Sweden vs Europe semifinal game thread, schedule, lines, and how to watch

European talent will be on full display today, as Team Sweden takes on Team Europe in the second semifinal

Team Europe wasn’t given much of a chance to make noise in this tournament. They’re the oldest team, and to compound the issue the roster is composed of players from a plethora of countries.

After consecutive losses against the speedy Team North America in pre-tournament play, Team Europe was more or less classified as nonthreatening. However after a stunning 3-0 victory over the USA, and a gutsy 3-2 overtime win over the Czechs, Team Europe found themselves among the top four clubs in the tournament.

They’ll face Sweden today, the team that finished 1st in their group after wins over Russia and Finland. The Swedes are led by Nicklas Backstrom, Filip Forsberg, the Sedin twins on offense, whereas their defense is littered with an overabundance of NHL talent, including Erik Karlsson, Victor Hedman, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.

The winner of this game will face Canada in a three game final.

The puck drops at 1:00 PM EDT, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
