World Cup of Hockey: Team North America final roster does not include Alex Galchenyuk
The results may be up in the air for this team of young guns, but one thing is for sure: they will be fun to watch
Team North America is a new addition to the World Cup. Limited to Canadian or American players who are 23 years old or younger, this team will be filled with some of the NHL's best young talent. The team will be headlined by last year's top two picks, Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel.
Named to the roster today was presumptive first overall pick Auston Matthews who will play in the city that is expected to be his NHL home, along with three other young forwards and three addition defencemen.
The defence is even better than you may expect with Aaron Ekblad and Seth Jones leading the way. They also have Matt Murray, who will be coming off his Stanley Cup Finals appearance with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It will be fascinating to watch this group of players perform against the world's best and their youthful energy may prove to be to their benefit, not the other way around.
