Full results of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft Lotteries

For the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, the top fourteen teams were entered into three separate draws for the first-, second-, and third-overall positions, with the worst finisher from the regular season having the best odds of claiming the number-one pick.

The first lottery was won by that 30th-overall club, the Toronto Maple Leafs, who will now very likely take Auston Matthews first overall on June 24.

The Winnipeg Jets made a big jump with a win, using their 7.8% odds to win the lottery for the second-overall pick, jumping up four spots.

The Columbus Blue Jackets were the final winner, advancing from fifth to third with a win in the last of three lotteries, for the third-overall pick.

The final order of selection follows:

  1. Toronto Maple Leafs
  2. Winnipeg Jets
  3. Columbus Blue Jackets
  4. Edmonton Oilers
  5. Vancouver Canucks
  6. Calgary Flames
  7. Arizona Coyotes
  8. Buffalo Sabres
  9. Montreal Canadiens
  10. Colorado Avalanche
  11. New Jersey Devils
  12. Ottawa Senators
  13. Carolina Hurricanes
  14. Boston Bruins

It is also known that the Minnesota Wild will select 15th, while the Detroit Red Wings will go to the podium in Buffalo to make the 16th-overall selection. Further positions will be known as teams are eliminated after the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
