Five players of the ECHL's Brampton Beast have been invited to various American Hockey League camps in the coming weeks.
Beast captain Cal Wild, and forward Jeff Brown will take part in the Beast's AHL affiliates St. John's IceCaps camp in Newfoundland.
The Beast's 2014-2015 Rookie of the Year, Matthew Maione will head to Pennsylvania to take part in the AHL's Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins camp. The defensemen was also voted as the Fan Favourite last season.
While defensemen Justin Dacosta and Zach McCullough will attend camp with the Toronto Marlies. DaCosta is the only player who's played in an AHL game. The defensemen players with the Lake Erie Monsters during the 2011 season.
Beast president and general manager Cary Kaplan couldn't be more thrilled to see so many of his players taking part in AHL camps.
"It's a big step for the Beast franchise to have so many of our players attend AHL training camps," Kaplan said in an online press release.
"This is a great indication of the strong team that Colin and his staff have built for the season ahead."
Head coach Colin Chaulk echoed Kaplan's sentiments.
"This is a great opportunity for our players to show what they can do at the AHL level," Chaulk said. "It also confirms a solid partnership between St. John's and Brampton as well as other AHL teams."
