The rebrand of the Montreal CWHL team was something that was imminent as far back as the initial partnership agreement between the Montreal Stars and Montreal Canadiens and it will end on Thursday.
Dave Stubbs reported that the announcement will come Thursday before their game against the Washington Capitals at the Bell Centre.
It is not known what the identity of the team will be, but a summer survey had options such as the Royales, Glorieuses and Canadiennes among others.
The partnership agreement was made on March 19 before a game against the Carolina Hurricanes and it was then that Geoff Molson said that a new bilingual identity was something he felt was necessary.
At the CWHL Draft in August, the team and league officially announced they would be changing their name.
