Canadiens vs Lightning Game Four second period thread

The Habs have a 2-0 lead to start the 2nd period.

The Montreal Canadiens jumped to an early 1-0 lead when Max Pacioretty retrieved a puck dumped into the Tampa zone and moved it back to P.K. Subban who spun and passed it to a wide open Andrei Markov who dumped the puck past a sprawling Ben Bishop. The Lightning pressed back immediately, but the Habs were able to weather a brief storm and turned the puck back up the ice to create some pressure of their own. The Habs almost scored to take at two-goal lead, but couldn't bury a loose puck in front of the net. Andrei Markov was thereafter sent off for a cross-checking penalty. Max Pacioretty would eventually end up being sprung on a shorthanded breakaway by Torrey Mitchell and buried his 4th goal of the playoffs to give the Habs a 2-0 lead.

By the midway point in the period the Habs were down 9-5 in shot attempts taken, and 6-5 on shots on net, keeping consistent with the trend in this series that the team with the most shot attempts be on the losing side of the scoresheet. An early 2-0 lead was something to build upon, and the Canadiens appeared to be gaining energy with each shift as the Lightning kept trying to get their wheels spinning, piling up the shot attempts, 15 in total for the 1st period against the Canadiens' 11. The Habs played a strong 1st period, dead even with the Bolts in terms of possession when adjusted for 5 v 5 and score.
