Montreal Canadiens Links news and notes

  • Nearing the end of a very disappointing 6-2 loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2, Brandon Prust took his frustrations out by tripping Ben Bishop, fighting Braydon Coburn and then removing and throwing his elbow pad at the Lightning bench. [YouTube]
  • Prust wasn't done there, sounding off on referee Brad Watson after the game. Get the cheque book ready, Brandon. [EOTP]
  • The TSN panel breaks down the Canadiens' struggles in the series as they enter desperation mode heading to Tampa Bay for a must-win Game 3 on Wednesday night. [TSN]
  • Alex Galchenyuk has had a rough go so far this post-season, with just a goal and an assist through 8 games. Expectations are very high and the Habs will need him to get going in order to have any chance the rest of the way. However, it's important to remember that he's just 21 years old with a very bright future ahead of him. [ESPN]
  • Speaking of struggling players, Tom Gilbert is ofter over criticized, but he isn't without his faults either. As our very own Jack Han writes, Gilbert can be doing a lot more to help the team. [EOTP]
  • Let's end on a few happier notes. Check out this touching moment as one of the little kids carrying the pre-game flag falls, and is clearly a little rattled. But our leader Carey Price encourages him. [TVA]
  • Lastly, enjoy this incredible (as per usual) Canadiens pump up video by the talented Tim Thompson. [Vimeo]

The 27-year-old, who is only making $575,000 this season, has been a huge part of the teams early playoff success; scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in 5 games. [NHL]
