  • The Brampton Beast have been named the Canadiens' ECHL affiliate! The team has just entered into their third year of operations, and Montreal is their first partner. The Beast will work with both the Habs and the IceCaps. [NHL]

  • Jarred Tinordi's hand has healed and he will be ready to play by training camp, but no offer has come yet from Montreal. [La Presse] (French)

  • Zach Fucale was pulled after the fourth goal in the final game of the Quebec Remparts against the Rimouski Oceanic. He was beaten high a few times, and didn't provide the bottom coverage expected from NHL ready goaltenders. It's a bigger deal than yo think. [Sportsnet]

I can hear Canadiens fans say: "What do we care? We have Carey Price, the best goaltender in the world today, and he’s ours for the next five years or so. Fucale’s an asset that we might never want." Fact is, though, Montreal GM Marc Bergevin has been shopping Fucale this year dating back to the trade deadline and let’s just say that Fucale’s stock is taking a severe hit.

  • A game summary of the same game, pointing out that "25 shots against in 32 minutes isn't exactly a strong defensive showing from the Remparts". The Remparts went on to be outshot 42-27. Wasn't it only a few days ago others were calling him the top goalie of his game?  [Pension Plan Puppets]

Around the League and Elsewhere

  • Cody Nickolet makes an amazingly well-detailed WHL ranking for the 2015 NHL draft. He estimates that about 30 or so players will actually be drafted, but ranks more "as if I were drafting for an actual NHL franchise". Number one is a Seattle Thunderbirds forward named Mathew Barzal; be interesting to see where he ends up. [WHL From Above]

  • The Buffalo Sabres have hired Dan Bylsma, and it only took a third round pick to the Penguins to do it. Check out his coaching profile for the Sabres here, if you're curious. [Die By The Blade]
  • Vladislav Tretiak leaked the proposed groupings for the World Cup of Hockey (returning 2016). What kind of sports narrative can we build for a potential "European All-Stars" vs. "North American U23s"?  [Sports Illustrated]

Group A: Canada, Czech Republic, European All-Stars, USA

Group B: Finland, Russia, Sweden, North Americans U23s
