Canadiens vs Lightning Game One third period thread

It's still scoreless heading into the third period.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs mounted early pressure on the Lightning, with Lars Eller, Devante Smith-Pelly and Brandon Prust leading the way on a beginning of 2nd period sequence of 11 shot attempts against 2 for the Canadiens that was ended when Alex Galchenyuk took a high-sticking penalty. The Canadiens neutralized the Lightning's powerplay, which has been almost as ineffective as the Habs' with a 6.7% success-rate going into tonight's game.  The Canadiens got another chance on the powerplay, but also couldn't hammer one in. Alex Galchenyuk was sent to the box for putting his stick in the path of asdfasdf who flew over top of it like he had lost a leg. The Habs almost scored shorthanded with Max Pacioretty and Tomas Plekanec getting loose on a 2 on 1 and exchanging passes, but Tomas Plekenac aimed his shot right at Ben Bishops gaping glove hand.

All Habs players with the exception of David Desharnais (-4), Alex Galchenyk (-3), Jacob de la Rose (-2), Alexei Emelin (-1), Dale Weise (-1) have positive Corsi ratings, while the Bolts have 11 players with negative Corsi ratings. The Habs have grinded out 40 5 v 5 shot attempts, and hit the net 22 times so far, with Brendan Gallagher leading the way with 5 shots on nets for the Habs.
