The absolute last guy you want to see go down with three games to go before playoff time would probably be Carey Price, but Max Pacioretty is roughly of equal importance to the team's chances. That said, the fan base is holding it's collective breath after this happened in the first period against the Panthers.
Tripping over Erik Gudbranson and falling backwards into the boards, you can see that Pacioretty thinks about getting up for a second before deciding not to. He definitely takes a pretty hard shot to the back of the head from the boards, so there's definitely some cause for concern here. I'm not a doctor, and don't know exactly what is going on at this point, but it sure looks like a concussion, which is very bad news.
The team has yet to release any details about the injury though it would be rather surprising and concerning if he were to return tonight. We will provide you with an update as soon as we know more.
Update
The team has confirmed that Pacioretty will not be returning to the game.
#Habs announce Pacioretty is done for the night.
