Canadiens vs Devils: Game Thread, Lines, & TV Schedule

After another tough loss, the Habs look to rebound in Newark.

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

The table seemed set for a come from behind victory last night when P.K. Subban one-timed a rocket shot for the tying goal with 4:59 left in the game. It was not to be. None of the Habs shooters could convert on their shootout attempts, and the Capitals walked away with the victory, even after Carey Price made a game-saver on Alex Ovechkin before giving up the game-winner to Troy Brouwer on the next shot.

The shootout loss adds to a stretch of mediocrity that has seen the Habs go a diabolical 6-6-4 since trade deadline day on March 2.

The Devils sit 13th in the East with 77 points, and are coming into tonight’s game on a 6 game losing streak (0-4-2), and having won only won 4 of their last 12. The Devils have only managed to scored 7 goals in their last 6 games, but did not allow their opponent to score more than 3 goals in any of these games played. The Devils are a stingy team at best, though they rank 17th in shots against, having allowed 1755 this season. The Habs have a chance to rebound tonight before they depart for a match in Florida on Sunday night, heading into the final week of regular season play.

The puck drops at 7:00 PM EST. The Devils haven't played since a 3-2 OT loss at Columbus on Tuesday, so they should be well rested. This will be the 16th time this season the Habs play a game two nights in a row. They are 8-5-2 this season in the second game played when playing two nights in row. With Andrei Markov getting the night off, and Sergei Gonchar coming into the lineup in his place. Dustin Tokarski will be making his 17th start of the season with Carey Price getting the night off as well.
