The Habs lead 1-0.

The Habs spent the first part of the 2nd period defending, as the Senators came out like a team realizing their season could end tonight and fired off 9 shots in the span of the period's first 7 minutes. The Senators appeared to tie it as Carey Price believed he had the puck trapped between his glove and his body, but it was actually lose next to his pad and swept into the net by J.G. Pageau. The goal didn't count, as referee Chris Lee had blown the whistle. The Sens didn't let it get them, and kept coming, jumping to a 33-25 CF advantage by the midway point in the 2nd period.

The Canadiens focused on clogging up the neutral zone, and as result went 9:37 without getting a shot on net. Carey Price was spectacular in the 2nd period, making 16 saves, 29 on the night so far, with his teammates making good on their promise to keep the front of the net as clean as possible. The Habs could only put up 3 shots on net in the 2nd period, but they did put 12 shots towards Craig Anderson's net compared to Ottawa's 17 directed at Carey Price in the 2nd period. With 40 minutes in the books, both teams will only have what's next on their minds, 20 minutes to extend the series, or end it.
