Canadiens vs Senators third period thread

The Habs are down 3-0.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs started the 2nd period looking like a team down 2-0. They looked desperate, as mistakes began to become magnified, and played with a higher level of energy. The energy was somewhat nervous energy, and led to two Habs' penalties in row early in the 2nd period. The second penalty was cut short by Mark Stone penalty, and it allowed the Habs to start to build an attack, jumping to a 12-5 2nd period CF advantage by the midway point of the period, but they did not convert for a goal on the powerplay and remained down 2-0.

The Canadiens continued to make mental mistakes in the form of indiscipline. This time it was David Desharnais who went to box for interference. The Senators wasted no time, with Erik Karlsson firing for the Senators' 3rd goal of the game.

Michel Therrien has the line blender out, but there's not much juice to blend with. The Habs have been on a dry run offensively, going 1/18 on the powerplay and are facing a Craig Anderson shutout streak of 100 minutes and 54 saves.

With nothing to lose, down 3-0, the 3rd period is up next.
