Canadiens vs Senators third period thread

The Habs need 1 goal to get back in this game.

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs took a penalty 36 seconds into the 2nd with Lars Eller putting his team in trouble after tripping Milan Michalek. The Canadiens were able to kill the penalty and started putting on the attack immediately in response, jumping out to a 6-1 lead in 2nd period shots.

The hitting did not die down in 2nd period, and there was still no room to move. The game opened up around the 10 minute mark, as the Canadiens pressed for 7 shot attempts and 3 shots on net in the span of a minute, but were unable to penetrate for the tying goal. Another powerplay for the Habs proved fruitless, as they moved the puck and had a couple of clear shots but were stymied by Craig Anderson when the shots got through.

The Habs are doing a good job at keeping their heads in the game despite the temptation to feel frustrated and will have 20 minutes to solve Anderson. They have been putting a lot of shots through in this series: 110 shots on the net through 2 games and 2 periods. Tonight, Les Canadiens de Montréal only need 1 shot to get through to tie it.
