Canadiens vs Senators second period thread

The Habs trail 1-0 to the start the second period after a late Senators' goal.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs and Sens battled out the first 5 minutes of the first period with the Habs getting the most tilted part of the ice to start the game. They looked crisp, starting off with a 7-1 CF run in the first few minutes, but had their plans interrupted by a high-sticking penalty taken by Alex Galchenyuk at the 3:40 mark.

Midway through the period the Habs were dominating in CF% with a 68.75 rate, but only led 3-2 in shots. Ottawa would get a powerplay right after the didn't convert on theirs, and it would take an incredible Carey Price toe save on Mika Zibanejad to keep the game scoreless.

Max Pacioretty played for 4:55 and was on the ice when Clarke MacArthur took a wrist shot past a sprawling P.K. Subban and beat Carey Price top glove. The Senators were able to climb back in possession in the last five minutes of the period, and ultimately ended the period with momentum.

The Habs will start the 2nd period down 1-0.
