Canadiens vs Kings game thread

Time to take down the Monarchy

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Just like the San Jose Sharks, who handed the Habs one of their worst losses of the year, the Los Angeles Kings are fighting for their playoff lives. Unlike the Sharks, who haven't exactly been playing their best hockey at this point in the season, the Kings have turned their season around and are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

Although the Kings have cooled down a little from their 8-0-0 run that ended last week when the Ottawa Senators beat them 1-0, the Kings have one of the best one-two punches at Center with Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter, as well as an incredible offensive blue-line led by Drew Doughty, and improved with the addition of Andrei Sekera.

Michel Therrien was quick to downplay the loss against the Ducks last night by by putting all of his praise on Ducks goaltender John Gibson. To paraphrase, the coach believed his team played well with one of the NHL's elite teams but the Ducks' goaltending made all the difference. It sounds like a familiar narrative for Habs fans: a team comes into the rink and plays a great game but cannot beat the goalie. This time around, Michel Therrien found himself on the losing side of that all familiar story.

The puck drops at 10:30PM EST.
