Canadiens vs Islanders third period thread

The Habs are making the most of their opportunities and hold the lead, 2-0.

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

After a bad first period, Les Habitants put together a good start to the second period, scoring two goals before three minutes was barely played. Tomas Plekanec scored his 20th, and Max Pacioretty scored his 34th and second shorthanded goal in  the last two games. Although the Habs scored twice to start the period, they had done so on their only 2 shots of the first five minutes of the period, while giving up 7 shot attempts to the Islanders, causing the Canadiens defenders to block 4 shots within the first 5 minutes of the period.

With the Habs blocking shots (19 so far in the game), the Islanders are facing two levels of frustration as they must still beat Carey Price if they are able to get one through. The Habs are capitalizing on their chances, making the most of what they can create offensively, and depending on shot-blocking and highlight reel saves from Carey Price.
