Canadiens vs Senators second period thread

The Habs have the jump, 2-0 heading into the second period.

Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs played a solid first period, leading the way in CF% for the first time in a while, holding the edge at 56.7. The first goal of the game came on a very good powerplay which saw the Habs unload 4 shot attempts, 3 of which hit the net including P.K. Subban's physics-defying howitzer from the point. The goal flat-lined the Senators for a few minutes, and as they gradually got back in the game and were granted a powerplay on a questionable high-sticking call, Max Pacioretty took matters into his own hand, scoring shorthanded to get his 32nd goal of the year, and second goal of the game.

Carey Price played a steady period, stopping 8 shots, of which the Senators threw 16 towards the net.
