Canadiens vs Senators: Game Thread, Lines, & TV Schedule

The Habs welcome a team fighting for their playoff lives.

Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs have scored 7 goals in the month of March, having been shutout twice and only scoring more than 2 goals one time over the last five games. It's been a difficult month so far, as the Habs carve out their identity moving into the playoffs as a team that is difficult to play against. Still holding first place in the Eastern Conference, the Habs need points to fend off their competition for top spot in the East, which now includes the New York Rangers who last night tied the Habs in points (91) by capturing their 42nd win and 8th win their past ten games.

The Ottawa Senators have also been one of the NHL's hottest teams in the league, also boasting a record of 8-1-1 over their last ten and scoring 29 goals. Andrew Hammond will get the start tonight after a great performance against the Habs last time these two teams met.

The Habs had P.A. Parenteau practicing on a line with Tomas Plekanec and Alex Galchenyuk earlier today, but no announcements have been made on who will start officially P.A. Parenteau is playing, Brian Flynn is out. In net, the Habs will start with Carey Price. Carey stopped 35 shots on Tuesday night, of the 75 the Lightning threw his way, 32 were blocked by Habs skaters, and only 1 got past Carey Price in overtime. The Habs will have to do better than their dismal 33 CF% from Tuesday night, even if the opponent is on the outside of the playoff picture, the Senators are fighting for their lives for points, and will do anything to get them.

The puck drops at 7:30PM EST.
