Canadiens vs Lightning third period thread

One goal may win this one.

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs and Lightning played an even second period, sharing the offensive output for most of the second period and going 50/50 CF until about the midway mark. Near the end of the second period, the Lightning jumped out to the advantage, thanks to a powerplay where they landed 2 shots on net on 4 shot attempts. In the second period the Habs improved their possession numbers, with a much better CF% of 45.8%, improving their overall game CF% to 41.6, which is still disappointing given the importance of this game. On the bright side, the Habs almost doubled their shot output in the second period, firing 11 shots at Ben Bishop. Not to go unmentioned... The Habs have blocked 17 shots tonight.

Numbers aside, the Habs and Lightning are playing a very tight game, with the Habs key player, Carey Price, being the pinnacle of excellence on his team's side. On the other side of the ice, Ben Bishop has been facing less shots, but has made a couple of key saves to keep the game even, scoreless, heading into the third period.
