The Habs jumped to a 1-0 lead on Manny Malholtra's first goal of the season. The Leafs had been the better team to start the game, having registered 5 shot attempts before Manny scored on the Habs' second shot attempt of the game. As the first period progressed, the Habs would trail in creating solid offensive events, trailing 15-8 CF when Tomas Plekanec came on as the extra attacker on a delayed Leafs' penalty and scooped a heavy wrist shot past Jonathan Bernier's blocker. P.K. Subban's assist on Plekanec's goal ties him for top points among defenseman with 48 (12 goals, 36 assists).

The Leafs ended the period in the lead in CF, up 21-10, but only 11-6 in shots as the Habs had blocked 6 shots and 5 Leaf shots did not hit the net. A lot of buzzing around Carey Price's net has led to no goals so far for the Leafs.

On the face-offs, Manny Malhotra is at 80% tonight having won 4 of 5 draws taken.
