The Habs trail 2-0 heading into the third period.

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs had the first nine shot attempts of the second period, and held the Predators from registering one of their own until the six-minute mark of the period. Michael McCarron had an exciting moment, driving the net and almost powering a shot through Pekka Rinne before he fell into the Predators' goalie, having nowhere else to go.

Dale Weise got sent off for holding, giving the Predators a chance to take advantage of the Canadiens not making anything of their strong start to the period. One minute into the powerplay, Roman Josi teed up a shot from just above the faceoff circle to beat Dustin Tokarski to give the Predators a 2-0 lead. It was the Predators' first shot of the period.

The Habs only allowed four shots on net on eight shot attempts in the second period. They trail 2-0 while leading the Predators 23-12 in shots and 41-23 in shot attempts.
