The puck spent most of the time between the two bluelines over the first five minutes of the game, but when the Habs were in the Predators zone they were firing at all cylinders and were able to jump to a 6-1 lead in shots within the first six minutes of the first period.
The Habs were doing everything right, putting up a good number of shots against one of the best shot-suppressing teams in the league. The hard work would not pay off, and at the 8:40 mark on only their third shot attempt and first shot on net of the game Nasvhille would take a 1-0 lead on one of the nicer goals you'll see this season.
The Habs finished the period with a 14-8 lead in shots on net and had eight more shot attempts than the Predators (23-15 CF).
Despite allowing a goal, Dustin Tokarski had a solid first period. It was another period where the Habs did everything right, but trail in the game anyway. They're down one, and normally I'd say if they keep playing like this good things will happen, but that seems not to be true with this team lately.
