I has been a long while since Michael Bournival has seen any action. He recently started skating again, and it seemed that he was nearing a return to action for the Montreal Canadiens.
He suffered a concussion last season playing for the Canadiens, but he downplayed the effects in order to protect his spot on the team after being a healthy scratch for the early part of the season.
He was eventually sent to the AHL Hamilton Bulldogs where post-concussion symptoms became severe enough that he admitted to the problem and, in March, the team decided to shut him down for the rest of the season.
The expectation was that he would likely be assigned to the St. John's IceCaps for a conditioning stint, but apparently that is not to be the case.
Whether or not he'll be claimed is a tough prediction to make. It has been a while since he saw some real game action, but there is no denying that a healthy Bournival could help numerous teams in the NHL.
