Canadiens vs. Bruins third period thread

The Canadiens are down 2-1, looking to avoid their first regulation home loss of the season.

The Habs got a chance to put the NHL's worst penalty kill to the test early in the 2nd period. 50 seconds after David Krejci was sent off for hooking, Tomas Plekanec would hammer home his 7th goal of the season. P.K. Subban would earn his league-leading 13th assist on the goal.

Torrey Mitchell was sent off for high-sticking Torey Krug a few minutes later. The Bruins have been expertly drawing penalties by adding just the right amount of embellishment, but the Habs have not been doing themselves any favours. The Bruins took the lead back on a low shot from the point by rookie Frank Vatrano. Suddenly, the Canadiens were chasing again.

The Habs got another chance to tie it on the powerplay, and after controlling the puck in the Bruins zone for almost 45 seconds, they unloaded their best chance of the man-advantage, with Andrei Markov pounding a one-timer that Jonas Gustavsson swallowed up.

The Canadiens are leading in possession, up 42-32 shot attempts despite having only 2 powerplays to the Bruins 4.
