The Habs would take a Too Many Men On the Ice penalty just over 1 minute into the 1st period, allowing the NHL's best powerplay to go work. The Bruins would convert on a shot tipped in off of Loui Eriksson just over 40 seconds into the powerplay. The Buins had leapt to a 5-1 shot lead within the first 5 minutes of the game.
The Habs have only allowed their opponents to score first 3 times prior to tonight's game.
The Canadiens took 3 penalties in the 1st period, and even though they spent 6 minutes down a man, they were able to almost match the Bruins in shot attempts, trailing 18-16. The Bruins do have twice as many shots as the Habs, but only generated 5 of their 12 shots 5 v 5.
It will now be a matter of getting some flow going and staying out of the penalty box.
