Canadiens vs. Islanders third period thread

It's 1-1 heading into the 3rd period.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

Max Pacioretty took an early penalty to start the 2nd period and just as it expired Kyle Okposo whipped a wrist-shot that fooled Condon and glanced off his blocker before passing through his arm. The Islanders had gotten a jump from their powerplay, holdng the Habs to 1 shot attempt in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd period while themselves having recorded 7 (with 3 of those shots on net).

The Islanders had built an 11-2 lead in shot attempts for the period, and then a series of penalties saw them go on a 4 on 3 powerplay. Mike Condon flashed the glove on Johnny Boychuk, and the Habs were able to kill the penalty. The Canadiens have only allowed 5 powerplay goals against in 14 games this season, average 4th overall in NHL special teams.

The Islanders took the lead  in possession with about 8 minutes to go in the 2nd period, and held the Canadiens to just 2 coring chances in the 2nd period according to War-On-Ice.
