Dustin Byfuglien had his hearing for a decidedly high hit on Brendan Gallagher, and the department of player safety decided that there will be no supplemental discipline for the Jets' big man.

Byfuglien was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing on the play, which makes sense when you look at the way he finished the hit by extending his elbow. It looks to me like he caught Gallagher mostly with his shoulder, but one thing is clear; the head was the principal point of contact. For whatever reason, the department of player safety disagrees with that assessment.
Luckily Gallagher wasn't injured on the play, and is playing for the Canadiens tonight against the Senators. In fact, Gallagher was none too happy about the hit, and he bounced right up to go after Byfuglien at the time. Whatever your opinion on the suspension, or lack thereof, Gallagher not being hurt is a huge blessing.
