Canadiens vs. Senators third period thread

The Habs and Sens are tied 1-1 heading into the 3rd period.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Canadiens gave up the first goal of the game for the third time this season on a shorthanded goal by none other than Jean-Gabriel Pageau who intercepted the puck on shot P.K. Subban fanned on. The Habs wouldn't score on the remaining powerplay time, but would get a chance to put their NHL's 6th best powerplay to work again moments later. With powerplay specialists like Dale Weise on the job, the Canadiens converted to tie the game 1-1 on a perfect cross-crease set up from Alex Galchenyuk to Weise for a tap-in.

Weise's 7th goal of the year has him tied with Max Pacioretty for the team lead in goals and 2nd in the NHL.

The Habs continued to dominate the Senators in possession, nearly having the Sens doubled at one point midway through the game in shot attempts (36-20 at the 6-minute mark of the 2nd period). The Senators were held to 1 shot attempt in the last 7 minutes of the 2nd period. Overall, the Habs are leading the possession by a margin of 22 shot attempts (47-25), but that all means nothing if they can't get the go ahead goal.
