Canadiens vs. Senators second period thread

It's scoreless heading into the 2nd period.

Marc DesRosiers-USA TODAY Sports

The Habs held the Senators to 1 shot attempt for the first 6:14 of the 1st period, putting some pressure on Craig Anderson with 3 shots on 7 attempts. The Canadiens looked to be building something while the Senators looked like they were trying to keep up.

Tomas Plekanec would beat Craig Anderson, but Brendan Gallagher was deemed to have interfered with Anderson so the goal was called off. Michel Therrien used his coach's challenge, but it was obvious Gallagher impeded Craig Anderson's path to make the save in the blue paint, and the call remained the same. The Habs lost their timeout as a result.

The Senators would find their rhythm later on in the 2nd period, forcing Mike Condon to make some great saves. The Canadiens were still mounting a ton of pressure, with 24 shot attempts recorded, but were not able to break through Craig Anderson for any legal goals on the 10 shots that hit the net.
