Brendan Gallagher left the game against the New York Islanders midway through the second period.
Gallagher went out to block a Johnny Boychuk shot and took it off of the left hand. He showed immediate pain and went directly to the locker room favouring his hand.

With Gallagher out, Alexander Semin took his place on the top line with Tomas Plekanec and Max Pacioretty.
Gallagher has only missed five games in his NHL career since his debut in the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.
The Canadiens currently have 13 healthy forwards even with Devante Smith-Pelly hurt so no roster move needs to be made if Gallagher is out indefinitely. Bud Holloway was a healthy scratch on Sunday night.
