As the preseason winds down and teams have begun to finalize what is likely to be their opening night roster the Canadiens added a quality veteran piece to theirs.
Tomas Fleischmann was originally invited to training camp on a professional tryout. Since then he's been nothing short of impressive in preseason action alongside David Desharnais and Dale Weise.
With a one-year contract in hand the veteran forward will be looking to prove himself after a somewhat disappointing season last year with the Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks. While he won't score 20+ goals as he's done in the past, Fleischmann is more than capable of contributing offense, and adds a steady presence to the Habs' bottom six. He also provides an insurance policy on the left wing.
