Canadiens vs. Flames second period thread

The Habs lead 1-0 heading into the 2nd period.

Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

Mike Condon made 3 saves in the first few minutes of the 1st period to allow the Habs to get their legs moving and eventually score the 1st goal of the game. Dale Weise would unload an a along-the-ice one-timer for his 4th goal of the season, taking a pass from Tomas Fleischmann who has fit in well with the Habs, registering his 4th assist and 6th point of the season. Condon would continue to be a factor, making tough saves from in close including a cross-crease save on a speedy Johnny Gaudreau wrap-around.

The Flames started to take over the game around the 10-minute mark. Down a goal and hungry, the Flames tested Mike Condon numerous times, including a point-blank save on Mark Giodarno as the 1st period clock expired. Condon would record 15 saves in the period on 24 attempts. The Canadiens generated a mere 17 attempts, but put 13 of them on the net.

Michel Therrien has been tinkering a little, but it seems motivated by wanting to balance out the ice-time uniformly across the lineup, as every line played around 5 minutes in the first period.
