Montreal Canadiens organizational injury report

The Montreal Canadiens organization is relatively healthy headed into the final throes of the preseason, with a few bumps and bruises.

Jean-Yves Ahern-USA TODAY Sports

Overall the organization is quite healthy headed into the start of the regular season in the NHL and AHL. Meanwhile Canadian junior teams have begun their regular season.

  • Max Pacioretty (LW) returned on October 1st from a leg injury suffered while he was training in the off-season. The initial diagnosis was 12 weeks before he could start skating, and true to form he was actually back in action in 12 weeks total.
  • Noah Juulsen (D, 1st-2015) returned on October 1st from a concussion that he suffered towards the end of August. He missed all of the rookie tournament, and finally played one NHL preseason game before getting sent back to the WHL for another year of junior hockey with the Everett Silvertips.
  • Alexander Semin (LW) benefited from a therapy day on October 2nd and missed practice as a result. He is not expected to miss any time. UPDATE 3/10: Semin will not play the final preseason game.
  • Michael Bournival (LW) failed his neurological tests at the beginning of training camp due to post-concussion syndrome and is out indefinitely. Expectations are that he will be put on LTIR to start the season.
  • Mark MacMillan (C, 4th-2010) missed all of the rookie tournament and training camp with a 'lower body injury' that required surgery back in March of this year. Not much is publicized about the nature of the injury or the timeline of his recovery, however it is significant enough that he did not travel to Newfoundland with the rest of the players who were assigned to the AHL, and continues to receive treatment in Montreal.
  • Brandon McNally (LW, AHL) has not played since the Red vs. White scrimmage on September 20th, and is listed as injured on the AHL training camp roster. The nature of his injury has not been publicized.
  • Josiah Didier (D, AHL) has not played since the September 13th game against Ottawa in the Rookie Tournament and is listed as injured on the AHL training camp roster. The nature of his injury has not been publicized.
  • Markus Eisenschmid (C, PTO) returned on October 2nd from an injury that forced him to miss the entire rookie tournament and NHL training camp. Currently still on a PTO, he played his first AHL preseason game for the IceCaps on October 2nd.
  • Hayden Hawkey (G, 6th-2014) underwent surgery on December fourth 2014 for a torn ACL and MCL on his left knee. He will be ready to start his freshman season with the NCAA Providence College Friars.
  • Matt Bradley (LW, 5th-2015) returned to action for the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WHL on October 2nd after undergoing surgery on a benign tumour in his nasal passage in September. He missed the entire NHL rookie tournament..
